About Claudia
Hello! Yes my name is Claudia and I'm the creator behind this little Graphic Design/ Art Business, located in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia.
I am originally from Country Victoria, made her big move up to Far North Queensland in January 2023, to pursue my dream of attending local markets on a weekly basis.
Not only do I attend markets selling my artwork, but I am also a freelance Graphic Designer, where I design Logos, Branding & Wedding Stationery etc.
Claudia has a Bachelor in Graphic Design, and has always been the creative type. My artworks showcase my love for bright colours, bold shapes, tropical sceneries and all things Far North Queensland. I mainly create my artworks by hand drawing on my iPad pro using the app Procreate. I also paint and hand drawn using other medias such as acrylic paint, makers and pencils. All products are produced within Australia, with majority of the range printed locally in Cairns, QLD.
Bachelor of Graphic Design
This all started when I was at University, studying a Bachelor of Graphic Design at La Trobe, Bendigo, Victoria. While I was completing my final year, I had the opportunity to travel and study over in Florence, Italy for a month at one of their top Design Schools, IED.
This trip really kick started my inspiration, love for bold colour, architecture and landscapes.
While I was travelling around in the Italian sunshine, I decided to create my own design instagram page where I could show my love for design.
After Graduation
Once I graduated, I gained full time work back in my home town as a Graphic Designer & Photo Editor. Into my second year of being back home, I received a job at another local Printing and Design business in Horsham, which really helped me develop my Graphic Design & Printing skills.
During my full time employment, I felt quite restricted sometimes with design and creating, and was trying to find an outlet where I could create whatever I wanted.
How my style developed
I have always been inspired by bright colours, bold shapes and quirky details. Creating my style of artwork has taken a few years to develop.
Market Journey
I decided to purchased an iPad Pro in 2018, downloaded the 'Procreate' app, then started drawing away like I use to as a kid. Before I knew it, after a few months sketching, I was printing my own artworks for my first EVER market stall. My market journey has begun!!
I absolutely love markets! I love how they bring people together, and create an amazing atmosphere. People buzzing, checking out local creators and makers, and also the community it creates between stallholders and organisers as well.
Besides attending markets, my second favourite days are 'MARKET PREP DAYS!'. Spending the whole day beforehand, preparing, printing, painting and packing the car all with a good podcast running in my ears.
I have had plenty of 'dud' markets throughout the years, but hey! That's the beauty of finding out where your target audience is and where you will be the most successful. Meeting new people and catching up with returning customers as well, is always a joy!
After a lot of trial and error, going through covid with no markets at all, to then the biggest markets and sales I could have ever dreamed of, I am so lucky to still be able to attend markets and do what I love. I'm so blessed to be able to do markets as my full-time job, 6 years down the track, and in beautiful Far North Queensland.
